Upcoming Live-Action ‘Pac-Man’ Film
Following the unexpected triumph of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it appears that film studios are once again keen on adapting video game franchises for the silver screen, particularly through live-action interpretations of their own. While this strategy may indeed be suitable for certain series, some remain a significant enigma, with one of the most perplexing choices being Pac-Man.
According to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter, Bandai Namco Entertainment has partnered with Wayfarer Studios to develop a live-action Pac-Man movie. Although the details of the project are scant at this stage, it is known that the film will be centered around a concept conceived by Chuck Williams, the producer of Sonic the Hedgehog at Lightbeam Entertainment.
Reactions to this news have been… well, largely predictable, with many questioning the rationale behind a live-action adaptation for a character as whimsical as Pac-Man. Numerous individuals on Twitter have unfavorably likened it to the 2015 movie Pixels, featuring Adam Sandler, which similarly saw Pac-Man in a live-action setting.
