Workers at Atlanta Apple Store Aim for Unionization
If successful, this faction would mark the pioneer Apple Store to form a union.
Yesterday, a substantial alliance of workers employed at an Apple Store within the Cumberland Mall in Atlanta, Georgia, ballot in favor of a union election. This marks the primary significant stride towards unionization for this site, a crusade that has garnered substantial backing from the majority of the store’s staff. Approximately 70% of the personnel have endorsed union authorization cards with the Communications Workers of America, who have consented to act as their representatives.

“Apple is a profoundly positive place to work, but we know that the company can enhance their adherence to their principles, which is why we are thrilled to unite with our colleagues to compel Apple to engage in negotiations and elevate the workplace,” remarked Apple Store Genius Bar employee Derrick Bowles in a statement released by the CWA.
The CWA has refrained from disclosing a detailed list of the emerging union’s requests but has asserted that “retail workers at Apple play a vital role in sales and repair services for various customers, yet have been deprived of a fair wage, adjustments for the cost of living, or equitable stock options.”

Apple emphasized in a statement to CNN that they currently provide “highly competitive remuneration and perks for both full-time and part-time workers, encompassing healthcare, educational support, new parental leave, remunerated family leave, annual stock allocations, and numerous other benefits.”
