Having received the diagnosis only a few months ago, Braugher’s private struggle with lung cancer came to an end on December 11, following a brief period of illness. Recognized for his exceptional career, Braugher gained fame with two Emmy Awards for his performance in NBC’s “Homicide: Life on the Street” and later engaged audiences as Captain Ray Holt in the widely adored series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which aired for eight seasons on NBC and FOX.

Braugher’s depiction of Captain Holt became a milestone for LGBTQIA+ representation in media, earning him two Emmy nominations. His impact extended beyond the screen, as seen in the heartfelt tributes from his “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-stars.

Melissa Fumero, who acted alongside Braugher, shared a touching message on Instagram, recalling the actor’s guidance, humor, and deep devotion to family.
