Tickets for the highly anticipated Marvel movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, went on sale last night, causing several ticket platforms to crash due to the overwhelming demand for opening day tickets on December 17. Moviegoers headed to AMC theaters to watch the film will receive an additional perk along with their ticket.

Prior to the ticket sales launch, AMC revealed that the first 86,000 individuals purchasing a ticket for Spider-Man: No Way Home at an AMC cinema will also get a code to claim a free NFT image inspired by the movie. These NFTs will be stored on Wax, the pioneering carbon-neutral blockchain. There are 100 diverse designs up for grabs, and if you pre-purchase your ticket on the AMC website, you will be given a link to claim one on December 22, provided you have an AMC Stubs account for receiving the code.

As per AMC CEO Adam Aron, both AMC stockholders and customers have expressed interest in having NFTs associated with the movies screened at AMC theaters. While the validity of this statement is up for debate, the success of the Spider-Man ticket sales could serve as a promising trial if the NFTs indeed drive higher sales. Given that it’s a Marvel movie featuring Spider-Man, it’s likely to sell well over 86,000 regardless of the NFTs inclusion, so it may not be the most reliable sample size.
