Ringling Bros. Circus Set to Restart Performances Sans Animals
The upcoming presentation will focus more on daring feats, aerial acts, and cutting-edge gadgets.
Renowned as one of the major players in the circus industry, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus has been synonymous with the title “grandest spectacle on the Planet.” Nevertheless, it also courted controversy, leading to closure in the late 2010s due to several expensive lawsuits related to animal mistreatment. Following an extensive revamp period, the circus is all set to recommence, this time without animals and with a heightened emphasis on extravagant stunts.

“Our return was certain, but the approach was not,” mentioned Kenneth Feld, the chair and CEO of Feld Entertainment, the company behind the circus, in a statement to The Associated Press. “It required a considerable period to truly delve into and reassess Ringling from various perspectives. It evolved into a complete reimagining, a fresh outlook on the way forward.”
The new exhibitions will unfold on an illuminated stage adorned with secret contrivances such as mobile staircases and platforms, real-time camera streams, and even virtual reality integration. Within these settings, artists will showcase acts of acrobatics, extreme sports demonstrations with skateboards and BMX bikes, and the timeless trapeze displays.

“The incorporation of technology in the performance is about enriching the encounter, not just about tech itself,” remarked Juliette Feld Grossman, the COO of Feld Entertainment. “With so much vigor and dynamism, we want to ensure that we capture every highlight of the show.”
The debut tour of the new circus will kick off in Bossier City, Louisiana on September 29, 2023.
