‘Resident Evil’ Showcase Unveils Games and Projects
Curious about the most surprising moment in yesterday’s Resident Evil Showcase livestream? It was the revelation that Lady Dimitrescu’s name is pronounced as “deh-meh-treese,” not “demeh-treh-skew.” I’ve been getting it wrong all this time, and I bet many of you have too. Apart from this revelation, there were numerous updates on Resident Evil Village, set to release soon, as well as other projects related to the Resident Evil universe.
In a fresh update on Village, Capcom announced the return of The Mercenaries, a beloved bonus mode from previous Resident Evil titles. In this mode, players can engage in arcade-style battles against spooky enemies, aiming to achieve the highest score. Furthermore, in the three weeks leading up to the game’s launch, there will be time-limited demos available. PS4 and PS5 users will have early access to the demos for Village and Castle on April 17 and 24 respectively, while other platforms will receive a combined demo on May 1. These demos will be accessible for only one day and allow an hour of gameplay each, offering a sneak peek before the official release.

Moreover, the showcase unveiled a fresh trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, an animated series arriving on Netflix in July, depicting Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield’s mission to safeguard the US President during another zombie outbreak. Additionally, the filming for the live-action adaptation of the original Resident Evil, titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, has concluded in Toronto and is now in post-production. It was also revealed that Capcom will collaborate with Behaviour Interactive to introduce Resident Evil characters to the horror multiplayer game Dead By Daylight in June 2021. Lastly, in partnership with Oculus and Facebook, Capcom is developing a VR-exclusive reimagining of Resident Evil 4.
Don’t forget, Resident Evil Village will launch on May 7 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam, and Google Stadia. Purchasers will receive free access to the multiplayer shooter Resident Evil Re:Verse.
