The forthcoming movie Barbie, featuring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, is all set to grace the big screens on July 21, 2023. Prior to its official premiere, the film has sparked widespread interest among viewers, be it due to the Vietnam ban debate, the star-studded cast, or the intriguing trailer. Notably, Barbie is slated to clash with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, also scheduled for release on the same day.

Under the direction of Greta Gerwig, the official Barbie trailer provides a sneak peek into a vivid, colorful world with an engaging storyline. Before its premiere, the film has already garnered exceptional initial feedback from the audience.

The dynamic trailer depicts Barbie embarking on a journey of self-discovery in the real world following bizarre experiences in the vibrant Barbie Land, alongside her companion Ken. The film features a renowned cast ensemble, including Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Hari Nef, Scot Evans, Kate McKinnon, Sharon Rooney, Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, Ana Cruz Kayne, Issa Rae, and others.

At the premiere of the film in Los Angeles on Sunday, Margot Robbie expressed her surprise at the immense support demonstrated by fans for Barbie even before its global release in theaters next week. Speaking to Reuters, she said, “I was aware of our excitement in sharing this film, and I had hoped that others would share that enthusiasm too, but it has returned to us with such vigor and excitement. I am genuinely surprised, very surprised.”

Actress Issa Rae, who plays the role of President Barbie in the movie, highlighted the evolution of Barbie’s character over the years. She expressed, “Barbie has been ahead of her time over the decades, but she has also lagged behind and been viewed as frivolous; she has been seen as a means to undermine feminism. Many stereotypes have been associated with Barbie, and I hope that after this, people will use Barbie to reflect on themselves and their position in the world.”

The movie’s trailer emphasizes that Barbie is for both her admirers and those who may have reservations. Ryan Gosling remarked, “This movie is akin to an amusement park. There’s a ride tailored for everyone, so I believe everyone can have their own unique experience, and that’s its beauty.”
