Rahul Dravid Expresses Concerns Over Team India’s Preparation following 3-0 Victory Against Afghanistan

After India’s decisive 3-0 win in the T20 series against Afghanistan, head coach Rahul Dravid expressed contentment with the team’s performance. However, he voiced worries about the limited training time before the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.

Despite the series triumph, Dravid stressed the absence of upcoming team cricket and highlighted the significance of closely monitoring players during the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL will provide a platform to evaluate player form and identify potential slots in the national team.

Post the ODI World Cup, India participated in 11 Twenty20 matches, providing an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess various players, including bench players such as Jitesh Sharma and Shivam Dube. Dravid commended their performances, stating, “It’s pleasing to observe that there are some alternatives who have showcased their abilities to address.”

Shivam Dube, with 124 runs and two wickets in the series, clinched the Player of the Series title, impressing Dravid with his enhanced skills on his return to the team.

Dravid also recognized the competition for the wicketkeeper position, considering choices such as Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and the recovering Rishabh Pant. He remarked, “We’ve got numerous keeping options out there,” leaving room for several contenders.

In the second Super Over against Afghanistan, Dravid lauded captain Rohit Sharma’s strategic decision of deploying leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi’s performance, defending 11 runs and claiming two pivotal wickets, validated Rohit’s aggressive approach, a move appreciated by Dravid.

As India gears up for the T20 World Cup, fans and analysts will closely monitor the evolving dynamics within the team, especially with the upcoming IPL serving as a critical determinant for the final squad composition.
