As autumn approaches, the familiar aroma of pumpkin spice emerges once more. It all kicks off with Starbucks reintroducing their iconic pumpkin spiced latte, leading to a gradual surge in all things spicy and pumpkin-flavored. If you were anticipating a delay before the pumpkin spice frenzy, you might want to start stocking up on non-pumpkin spiced treats now because Starbucks is making its move early this year.

Starbucks made the official announcement yesterday about the immediate return of their pumpkin spiced latte. Starting today, August 24, the pumpkin spiced latte is back on the menu at all participating Starbucks outlets, accompanied by the pumpkin spiced cold brew, one of the chain’s newer creations infused with that autumnal taste. This year, August 24 marks Starbucks’ earliest launch date for the pumpkin spiced latte, beating their previous record by just one day.

Surprisingly, Starbucks isn’t the first to dive into the world of pumpkin spice this year. Dunkin’ rolled out its pumpkin spiced beverages on August 18, marking their own early entry into the pumpkin spice season. Moreover, several grocery stores nationwide have begun stocking their shelves with fall-themed snacks, including pumpkin-spiced products. It’s almost like a prelude to fall festivities, reminiscent of Christmas celebrations in July—except with pumpkin spice in lieu of holidays. Yet.

Despite the unusual timing, it appears that people are eager to embrace the autumn spirit, even though summer still lingers. Home Depot recently revealed during an earnings call that their early release of Halloween products online resulted in rapid sell-outs. Clearly, there’s a strong desire for the arrival of fall.
