‘Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’ to Get Remakes on Nintendo Switch
Since the debut of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in 2014, fans of the franchise have eagerly awaited the modern rendition of the fourth generation Pokémon games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. After years of speculation and misinformation, the long-awaited news has finally arrived during today’s Pokémon Presents event.
The Sinnoh region remakes titled Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch later this year, much to the delight of enthusiasts.
Interestingly, the development of these remakes is not overseen by Game Freak or The Pokémon Company but by Ilca, known for their work on Pokémon Home. The project boasts directors Yuichi Ueda from Ilca and Junichi Masuda, a veteran from Game Freak. Despite this change in development, fans can expect these remakes to stay true to the original games, including the classic stubby character sprites for traversing the overworld, while character models during battles will align more closely with recent Pokémon game standards.

The presentation also introduced Pokémon Legends Arceus, a brand-new game set in the historical Sinnoh region. Information about this intriguing release remains scarce, with footage showcasing trainers in ninja-inspired attire exploring the region and capturing Pokémon by manually tossing PokéBalls. This highly anticipated game is scheduled for a 2022 launch.
