PepsiCo and Beyond Meat Collaborate on Plant-Based Jerky Innovation

The previous year saw PepsiCo and Beyond Meat come together to establish the PLANeT Partnership, a strategic alliance focused on introducing a fresh array of plant-derived snacks and beverages. This venture proved advantageous from a commercial standpoint; PepsiCo gains entry into the thriving plant-based food sector, while Beyond Meat, a relatively youthful enterprise, benefits from PepsiCo’s substantial assets.

A recent report by Bloomberg shed light on what could potentially be the maiden offering from the PLANeT Partnership: a package of wholly plant-based jerky. As per the report, a YouTuber named Amber Criste procured a trial pack of this snack from a nearby boutique grocer and lauded its delectable flavor. The jerky, as stated on the packaging, is completely plant-based, free from soy, GMOs, or gluten, and boasts a plant protein content of 10 grams. Neither PepsiCo nor Beyond Meat have provided any statements regarding this video or Bloomberg’s coverage at present.

In a fiercely competitive plant-based market, they certainly won’t be the first to dabble in jerky creation. Companies like Conagra Brands have already rolled out their own plant-based jerky, although the key distinction between Conagra’s version and Beyond’s lies in Conagra’s utilization of wheat and soy as primary ingredients.
