‘Overwatch 2’ Collaborating with ‘One Punch Man’ in Special Promotion
Overwatch is borrowing a strategy from Fortnite.
With the rise of online gaming, developers have found it more accessible to partner with different facets of the entertainment industry. This trend has led to several online games featuring collaborative promotions with popular shows, films, and games, with Fortnite being a notable example.

Recently, in conjunction with the announcement of the upcoming season, Activision Blizzard revealed that Overwatch 2 will introduce a crossover promotion in the coming weeks. Starting from March 7 to April 6, players can acquire a new outfit for the character Doomfist inspired by the popular manga and anime series One Punch Man. The outfit transforms Doomfist into a look reminiscent of One Punch Man’s main character, Saitama, featuring red gloves, a yellow suit, and a white cape.
In a conversation with ComicBook.com, Jon Spector, the commercial lead and VP of Overwatch 2, discussed the potential for future crossover appearances. Spector stated, “This provides us with a chance to gauge how enthusiastic players are about this.” He added, “We are not currently planning another collaboration for Season 4, for instance. However, we are exploring various concepts that we are eager to bring to life. So, in my opinion, we should assess the outcome of this initial venture before making any decisions about subsequent collaborations.”

“At this point, we do not have all the answers. Our approach involves experimentation with various ideas to identify what resonates with our audience. I am delighted with our current initiative and am excited about potentially exploring similar ventures more frequently. Nonetheless, we do not intend to inundate Overwatch 2 players with a constant influx of new characters every week. There is a limit that, if surpassed, could dilute the experience,” Spector remarked.
