Official Approval Granted to Pfizer Vaccine by FDA
The United States has successfully distributed over 200 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which had been previously authorized for emergency use only to combat the pandemic pending further thorough examination. Today’s affirmation of the vaccine’s safety and efficacy in combating the coronavirus has led to its full approval by the FDA.
With the FDA granting full approval to Pfizer, the vaccine will remain widely accessible at pharmacies for those choosing to receive it voluntarily in emergency situations, while entities like corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies can mandate Pfizer vaccination for their staff.
“The public can rest assured that this vaccine meets the rigorous safety, efficacy, and manufacturing standards mandated by the FDA for an approved product,” affirmed Janet Woodcock, the acting commissioner of the FDA.
“Although millions have already safely received COVID-19 vaccines, the FDA’s approval may boost confidence in vaccination for some individuals. This milestone brings us closer to altering the trajectory of the pandemic in the US.”
