New Hybrid Headphones and Air Purifier by Dyson
Do you ever find yourself enjoying your favorite tunes on a set of headphones and ponder, “These headphones sound great, but what if they could also purify the air around me?”
Your oddly specific wishes have been granted with Dyson’s latest innovation, the Dyson Zone. This peculiar creation combines over-ear headphones with an air purifier, attaching directly to the user’s face. The air purifier visor covers the wearer’s nose and mouth, delivering filtered air streams to both areas. Although one might think this design is capitalizing on the current demand for home air purifiers due to the pandemic, Dyson has been diligently crafting this product for the past six years.
“Initially resembling a snorkel-style breathing device connected to a backpack housing the motor and internal components, the Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones underwent substantial transformations during its six-year development journey,” Dyson explained. “Through over 500 prototypes, the design evolved from a single motor located at the back of the neck to two compressors, each housed within an ear cup. The snorkel-like mouthpiece transitioned into an advanced, hands-free visor that dispenses clean air without the need for full facial contact – a revolutionary method for delivering purified air.”
