All of Disney’s iconic mascot characters are often known for particular fashion choices. Minnie Mouse, in particular, is best known for her frilly, bright red, polka-dotted dress, along with a bow on her head with the same coloration. Minnie often appears in this outfit or similar ones in promotional material for Disney’s various theme parks, but for an upcoming anniversary event over at Disneyland’s Paris Resort, she’ll be donning a new look.
British fashion designer Stella McCartney assisted in the creation of a new set of threads for Minnie, choosing a smart pantsuit in dark blue with black polka dots, with a matching bow on her head. This new look will be worn starting in March 2022 to simultaneously celebrate Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary and Women’s History Month.
“This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation,” McCartney said.

Reactions to the outfit reveal have varied wildly on social media, with some praising the new look while others decry it as an unnecessary departure from the norm. Conservative talk show hosts have, for one reason or another, chosen to make the outfit a talking point, calling it an effort to make Minnie appear “more masculine” that will “destroy fabrics of our society.” Many social media users have noted that this actually isn’t the first time Minnie has swapped out her dress for pants, nor is it even an especially wild outfit compared to some of the other looks she’s rocked over the years.
