Lady Gaga to Team Up with Joaquin Phoenix for ‘Joker’ Sequel
The award-winning film Joker of 2019, featuring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role, was a massive success, presenting a captivatingly disturbing story of a man driven to his breaking point by a heartless society. Phoenix’s performance was highly acclaimed, with many lauding it as the finest depiction of the iconic antagonist since the late Heath Ledger. Now, news of another Joker movie is emerging, and this time, Phoenix will share the screen with a prominent artist.
As per a report from Hollywood Reporter, musician and songwriter Lady Gaga is in discussions to co-star alongside Phoenix in the upcoming Joker movie, which has been revealed as “Joker: Folie à deux.” While Gaga’s specific role in the film remains undisclosed, fans are theorizing that she could potentially assume the character of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, more commonly known as the Joker’s accomplice Harley Quinn. Gaga’s rendition of Harley Quinn is anticipated to be markedly distinct from Margot Robbie’s portrayal in recent Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey films.

Furthermore, aside from Gaga’s involvement, there are whispers suggesting that the movie might also have a musical aspect. Given that the film is helmed and partially scripted by Todd Phillips, who previously worked on Gaga’s own production, A Star is Born, a musical element would not be entirely unexpected. Such a touch would seamlessly align with the Joker’s overall atmosphere of a darkly humorous theatrical performance.
