The process has proved more challenging than he expected.
The third Deadpool movie is slated to hit theaters in the fall of 2024, and as previously announced, it will finally feature the onscreen clash between with titular mercenary, played by Ryan Reynolds, and one of his most stalwart frienemies from the comics, Wolverine. Wolverine will be played by Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in every live-action X-Men film, though before that, he needs to get his Wolverine body back.
As is often the case, Wolverine has several shirtless scenes in Deadpool 3, necessitating Jackman to get back in shape. When asked on the Empire Film Podcast if body building has gotten easier for him, Jackman replied that his hectic schedule as star of Broadway’s The Music Man is making it much, much harder.
“I’m doing eight shows a week right now, so I’m only lifting weights three times a week. But I’ll be getting into it once or twice a day as soon as this is done in a month. And I’ll have six months to prep, and I always have the same approach every time I go in.”
“I want it to be better than ever, to be in better shape than ever, more able to do things than ever. I just get the added incentive of taking Ryan Reynolds out each day.”

When asked for clarification on the characters’ relationship, Jackman said “Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we’re zero, we’re opposites, hate each other.”
“I’m just talking from my perspective, [Logan’s] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”
