Florida’s Maxwell Frost Chosen for Congress
Frost emerges as the premier Gen Z representative elected to Congress.
With the United States Midterm elections approaching their end, state races are being decided as votes are counted. In Florida, incumbent Governor Ron DeSantis secured a second term, yet the state’s political landscape remains diverse. Florida has elected a new Congressional representative, distinguished as one of the youngest in its history, a stark contrast to DeSantis.

Maxwell Frost, a Democratic contender, emerged victorious in securing the Congressional seat in Florida’s 10th Congressional District, surpassing Republican rival Calvin Wimbish. Frost is set to replace the current Congress representative, Val Demings, who opted to challenge Florida Senator Marco Rubio instead. At 25 years old, Frost becomes the inaugural Generation Z member elected to the U.S. Congress, ranking among its youngest legislators.
“A momentous occasion unfolded tonight,” Frost expressed in a post-election tweet. “We have paved the way for history among Floridians, Gen Z, and those who strive for a brighter future.”
Frost has established himself as a notable political and social advocate, primarily orchestrating initiatives in support of gun control and school safety. Previously, he held the position of national organizing director for the activist group March for Our Lives.

Given that the current U.S. Congress boasts one of the highest average ages in American history, Frost’s presence will inject much-needed youthful vigor. Amanda Litman, co-founder of the political activist group Run for Something, remarked to NPR, “Observing a 25-year-old successfully running for Congress can inspire more individuals to follow suit and step up. The inaugural person motivates the second, third, and fourth entrants.”
“I firmly believe that political involvement and activity are akin to habits—a muscle that grows stronger with use,” added Litman. “We are witnessing only the incipience of Generation Z’s emergence as political leaders.”
