E3 2021 Highlights All-Digital Presentation
The Annual Entertainment Expo is a yearly trade fair exhibiting the most recent and greatest advancements in the gaming sector, from fresh game unveilings and previews to the newest equipment. Or, well, typically it is. E3 2020 was entirely scrapped due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with numerous publishers and developers choosing instead to conduct their own distinct presentations, or simply release trailers without much hype. The positive news is that this year, E3 is making a return, albeit not in the exact form we’re accustomed to.
In the concern of COVID-19 safety, the Entertainment Software Association revealed that E3 2021 would be a completely digital event. Instead of a physical convention place for participants to explore, the event will incorporate an online gateway connecting to various virtual exhibitor booths. These kiosks will offer demos, previews, and other enjoyable elements delivered by most of the familiar group of developers and publishers that attend E3. There will also be live-streamed shows and gameplay, alongside dedicated social media elements such as forums and game rankings. As of now, the confirmed participants of the affair are Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, and Warner Bros. Games. No, I’m unaware of Sony’s plans.

Aside from accessing this digital gateway via your laptop, you can also reach it through a dedicated E3 2021 application available on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for Android. The app will offer the same material as the gateway, along with more mobile-centric features such as surveys and highlighted Twitter posts. If you prefer not to use the online gateway or the app, you can still view all of the broadcasts on E3’s Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook channels.
The event will occur from June 12 to June 15. Early registration is completely complimentary and will commence later this month. For industry professionals, there will also be a press access week commencing on June 7, where press members can directly interact with developers and publishers for their statements and more.
