DeLorean Reemerging with Electric Automobile
Back in 1985, Doctor Emmet Brown crafted a time-travel machine from a DeLorean, asserting that if you’re going to embark on such an endeavor, you might as well do it with some pizzazz. This was a truly iconic moment from the cinematic masterpiece Back to the Future, a film that essentially transformed the DeLorean Motor Company from a now-defunct producer of distinctive sports cars into a lasting symbol of popular culture. Regrettably, the DMC had already shuttered its operations by the time the movie hit theaters, primarily due to concerns regarding the car’s build quality and fuel efficiency (Mister Fusion had not been invented yet), making these automobiles exceptionally rare collectibles. That is, until now.
In a brief promotional clip aired post the Super Bowl last weekend, the newly-revived DeLorean Motor Company unveiled news that many have been eagerly anticipating: the DeLorean is poised to make a grand return, scheduled for later this year. And that’s not all; although it may not be harnessing nuclear energy, this new iteration of the DeLorean will run solely on electricity.
The Future was never guaranteed. Envision a new present.
Register for the debut of the DeLorean in 2022.

While the promo only teased a silhouette of the upcoming vehicle, its outline is unmistakably DeLorean, thanks to the iconic gull-wing doors. The hashtags accompanying the promo’s Twitter post imply that, despite being an electric vehicle, the new DeLorean is still categorized as a luxury automobile, though what that precisely entails by today’s standards remains open to interpretation. Nevertheless, the DMC aims to roll out this new vehicle to the public by the close of 2022, and it’s highly likely that, assuming the design stays true to the original, every aficionado of Back to the Future will be eager to acquire one.
