Chris Rock Addresses Slap Incident

Since the recent weekend, the online world has been vibrant with different perspectives and analyses of the momentous incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. The Academy has committed to launching an inquiry into Smith’s conduct to assess the possibility of revoking his Oscar and potentially barring him from future award ceremonies. Smith has expressed remorse for his behavior, expressing his wish for the Academy to pardon him.

Conversely, Rock, the recipient of the slap, has remained relatively reserved regarding the matter. Last evening, at a stand-up gig in Boston as part of his ongoing “Ego Death Tour,” Rock briefly referenced the slap, indicating that he was still in the process of organizing his thoughts on the incident.

“I don’t have a plethora of material on what transpired, so if that’s what you were expecting, I had a whole set prepared prior to this incident. I’m still trying to process what unfolded, and at some point, I’ll touch on that topic. It will be a blend of seriousness and humor, but for now, I’ll share some jokes.”

At a subsequent show later that same night, Rock reiterated that he had no material related to the Oscars controversy in his act, although he also stated that he had not had any conversations with Smith following the incident. “Contrary to what you may have heard, I have not conversed with anyone.”
